Rockland County, NY is a bedroom community for New York City.  Its geographic size is small in relation to the other Counties of New York State.  Because of its picturesque topography of hills and vegetation, the movement of vehicles through the various communities is somewhat difficult. The school districts located within this County are part of the Rockland Board of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES). This BOCES has responsibility for providing transportation to and from educational classes for grades K through 12 for Special Education Students (Children with Special Needs) and private school children.  These children have to be transported across the various School District boundaries to the BOCES educational facilities or private schools.
